My paintings aim to expose the rich contrasts of modern city living, the excitement and vitality that glitters through the grime and isolation of the contemporary urban landscape. To convert the real experience of my environment into the 2D plane is a magical experience that allows me to connect more deeply with the world and with myself and ultimately with the viewer. The whole of art history is important to me but I look particularly at the work of other figurative artists such as Breugel, Hopper, Spencer, Hergé and more recently Hogarth’s illustrations of London life.
'Glitter and Grime', a book written by Ed Gray and containing images of his work was published in 2007 by GXgallery, London, United Kingdom
