Drawings
Here you will find the sketches and studies for the paintings in the Exhibtiions section of this website. Drawing is the basis of what I do. To stand and draw in a dusty street in a foreign city makes me connect with that city and its people. People stop to look over my shoulder and language barriers are overcome. Strange encounters occur. I sharpen a thousand pencils and end up lost in the midst of the scene, not looking at my sketchbook, drawing anything that moves. Returning to London I look at my own city and its people in a new way.
